Pottinger Street is a traditional and well-known street in Hong Kong. It is characterized by its rock-stairs along the slope and hawker stalls.
A hawker stall selling fruit juice was analyzed. It shows a clear work flow for the shopkeeper, from storage, making and serving the juice. The shopkeeper's circulation and body movement interacting with the shop was investigated.
The iterations focus on the circulation of shopkeeper and customers. They were designed with specific structures to enhance the interaction between the shop itself and the human movement.
My final design is Spiral Up. It is a shop selling egg waffle. Stairs are designed in a spiral shape around the workspace of the baker. This can encourage the interaction between the shopkeeper and the customers. The direction of stairs guide people to move in a designated flow, from ordering, watching the baking, to taking the waffles and enjoying them.
