This course has several tasks, mainly include learning 3D modelling tools and exploring different ways of producing rapid prototypes. Multiple digital tools were learnt and used, including Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Rhino and V-Ray. The final products are 4 posters showing analytical drawings, rendering, progress and rapid prototypes.
This is the first time using 3D Modelling and rendering tools. I choose to model a digital camera from Olympus. I used Rhino for the modelling, V-Ray for rendering and Photoshop for later edit.
After finishing the 3D model in Rhino, command Make2d was used to generate 2D drawing of the camera. The sections are then edited in Adobe illustrator for this poster.
I chose 3D Printing and laser cutting acrylic boards for the two prototypes. For 3D Printing, I created the mesh model in Rhino, then output the STL file to the printer. For laser cutting, I use ClippingPlane in Rhino to generate sections of the camera model for each 1mm height. All cut pieces were stacked up for the final product.
